Forensic toxicology examines the sites and mechanisms through which drugs exert their effects in the body. While forensic toxicology has various applications, drug and alcohol tests are perhaps the most common ones people associate it with. Forensic toxicologists are more concerned with the tools and methods used to conduct their investigations than with the legal implications of their findings.
