Authors
Sabia Malik, Amitesh Anand
Abstract
The paper seeks to examine the specific legal safeguards provided to
women under the Constitution of India to protect their human rights. It will
examine the constitutional provisions, laws, and policies aimed at ensuring
women's rights are upheld in the country. By analysing the legal framework and
its practical implications, the paper will highlight the progress made in
promoting gender equality and protecting women's rights. Furthermore, it will
address the existing challenges and shortcomings in the implementation of these
safeguards. The Constitution of India includes special provisions to protect
the human rights of women and promote their equality. These provisions
recognize the unique challenges and vulnerabilities faced by women and seek to
address them through affirmative action and other means. Key legal protections
for women under the Constitution of India encompass the right to equality
before the law, protection against discrimination based on sex, and the freedom
of speech, expression, and association to empower women in advocating for their
rights.
